Target Field

Second game at the new field and I just had to share some of these shots. Our seats are THAT close. I like this progression of indirectly slowly seeing the sun set. Nothing like a hot summer night at an outdoor ball game!

Fun in the Sun

This week has been crazy busy babysitting! So naturally I threw the Rebel in my bag o' shananigans and had some fun with the kids. I think these guys are some keepers!

"S" family

The "S" family is so great. While babysitting, I couldn't resist pulling out the cam to capture their cute little smiles and wildly goofy faces. It was interesting to work with the three different ages and how they responded to the camera. The youngest, Freddie, was impossible to capture by myself; but the older two did pretty well! Here's a sample:

End of a Trial

The day has come. My Lightroom and Photoshop trial subscriptions have run out. It's sad. It's sad because I have raw images on my desktop that are waiting to be examined. It's sad because to buy Lightroom for real is upwards of $250 which is not ok. So while I get over this grieving process I may be returning to iPhoto which is a real tragedy, although I am exploring other online options at the moment. Unfortunately, I won't be uploading pictures anytime soon but I have taken some cool ones recently! Summer lighting is blissful. I wish it could be like this all the time. Hellooo Emory!

Day 21: The End

Last day of May Term was cut short! We had all our last senior stuff at school this morning, and then track clean-up in the afternoon so I never really got my last day with Tasha. Shhh, don't tell, but I'm running a gift over there tomorrow.

Overall, May term was a blast!!! I learned so much from her and it was even cooler to be able to get behind the lens myself and play around with a little trial and error until I got things right. As I put my project together tonight, it's actually pretty crazy to see how far my pictures have come from even just three weeks ago. The first time I shot in manual, to getting my settings right on the first shot at the 6-month-old baby pictures. It has been quite the adventure.

My attitude going into this project was such that I had an interest in photography, but I wanted to see if I had a passion and skill for it. And now I know: I have a HUGE passion for it and potentially skill as well... but I guess that's up to the judges tomorrow night and what the general public thinks.

Enormous thanks to Tasha, Ali, and Amy. They do some awesome work so check 'em out!

Peace!

Sullivan & Olivia

These two cuties were SO much fun to shoot! This was suppose to be Sullivan's 6 month pictures. Right around 6 mos. is when babies begin to sit up on their own, but Sullivan wasn't quite there yet. Mom had to be on-demand to boost him back up for some of the sitting shots. His big sister, Olivia, was equally adorable and so full of energy. She greeted me with a hug at a door and we played barbies as Tasha set up for the shoot. Great family and fun photos!

These are my photos but as always cred goes to Tasha of Red Bird Hills :)

Fashion

Let's play a game: who is beautiful, fashionable, funny, sweet, and awesome to be around? Yep, that's right, Sam! Naturally, she was my first choice for a fashion shoot because she has the best clothes. In the end, it was less about her clothes and more about the beautiful person she is - inside and out! Thanks so much for all the help Sam, you are a goddess and I couldn't have done it without you!

Business

Ali and Tasha both recommended that if I was ever really considering Photography as a profession, that I shouldn't go to school for Photography but I should go into business. Taxes are a prime example. Being a self-employed photographer is tricky because first they are taxed off their income just like everyone, but then they also have to pay locational fees for shooting. There are downtown Minneapolis taxes, Hennepin County taxes, certain area taxes, the list goes on. To figure out what the tax would be for your area visit the Minnesota Revenue site. There's so much more that goes into the photography business that I never even realized! We took a peak at Tasha's release form for weddings today. It's four pages long! It covers her for potentially any horrible situation that could ever ever happen. It seriously blows my mind all the things that could go wrong. But at least she's got all her bases covered!

Alissa & Josh

I had way too many favorites from this wedding, and I figured that people enjoy looking at wedding pictures anyway therefore I'm putting a lot up. Alissa & Josh were an awesome couple - totally laid back and so much in love. They had a beautiful outdoor wedding at The Refuge and it was a gorgeous day so we got some great shots of their special day. Such a blast!
